FIVE CORE AREAS
 

Character & Leadership Development
Programs in Character and Leadership Development empower youth to support and influence their Club and community, sustain meaningful relationships with others, develop a positive self-image, participate in the democratic process, and respect their own and others’ cultural identities.  Some of the programs include:

 

  • Keystone Club – a leadership club for teens
  • Torch Club – a leadership club for pre-teens
  • Youth of the Month
  • Community Service Projects

Education & Career Development
Programs in Education and Career Development enable youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines, apply learning to everyday situations, and embrace technology to achieve success in a career.  Some of the programs include:

 

  • Power Hour (Homework Assistance & Tutoring)
  • Project Learn
  • Goals for Graduation
  • Career Exploration
  • Computer Programs

Health & Life Skills
Programs in Health and Life Skills develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and live successfully as self-sufficient adults.  Some of the programs include:

 

  • Smart Moves
  • Healthy Habits
  • Cooking Classes
  • Money Matters

The Arts
Programs in The Arts enable youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of visual arts, crafts, performing arts, and creative writing.  Some of the programs include:

 

  • Arts
  • Drama 
  • Crafts

Sports, Fitness & Recreation
Programs in Sports, Fitness and Recreation develop fitness, positive use of leisure time, skills for stress management, appreciation for the environment, and social skills.  Some of the programs include:

 

  • Gameroom Tournaments & Activities
  • Sports Clinics
  • Triple Play Challenges
  • Field Trips
  • Sports Activities

Other popular programs include:

 

  • Summer Camp - Each summer, the club sends over 500 members to a six-day camp in southern California.
  • Track Break Program - This program provides working parents with a safe place for their children to go both before and after school, and during track breaks at the Kish and Montandon Units. Transportation is provided at the John Kish Unit only.
  • College Scholarships – Scholarships are awarded to deserving members through the John C. Kish Scholarship program.
